Sarah's Birthday / Camping Trip / Turkey Hunt
Still no turkey will have to wait for next year. Plenty of other wildlife including a coyote chasing a doe across the large field. Of course we have to mention the 4'6" Diamondback that Jeff walked up on Saturday evening while looking for Tomas Earl. Yes turkey loads will kill a rattlesnake the proof will be posted when we get the pictures developed. It was so hot Sunday morning when we got up we decided to cut our trip short and pack up and head back. Next stop Fishing in Helen.

Camping Trip / Turkey Hunt
Saw coyote missed coyote, but now I know just how fast one can
run.
We had a wonderful time again, thought we would post some pictures so all of you
could see where we have been spending our weekends.
Click on images for larger picture.
Why we don't like coyote's is just a little too graphic for the web site.
We will be back down next weekend.

Camping Trip / Turkey Hunt
No problem getting in this time. All we saw were hens not a single tom. In fact there was a general lack of game this weekend but the frogs were gone, replaced by much quieter raccoons and possums. The coyotes were out in vast numbers during the night but very little singing by them. However the neighbor to the property was having a party, we could here the music from it where we were. Must of been a good party since we were at least two miles from them and could here their gathering like it was next door. The weather was hot during the day but at night it was perfect.
We will be back down next weekend.

Camping Trip / Turkey Hunt
We actually got in the woods without getting stuck, but it was
close.
Earl was sighted (Patsy has named him Earl because "Earl's Gotta Die")
as we were heading to town for some supplies. He was just walking in the
trees just beside the road. Unfortunately by the time I got out of the
truck and got a round in my shotgun he was gone. Even though Earl did not come
home with us for dinner we did see a lot of game, including the largest deer
that either of us have ever seen. David says it's an exotic deer that has gotten
out of a farm up the highway. Instead of being serenaded by the owls and coyotes
we had frogs, it was so noisy at night we actually had to turn up the radio
pretty loud to hear the game.
We will be back down after Easter.

March 30 through April 1, 2001
First Annual Spring Camping Trip and Turkey Hunt.
Though we will probably go several times during Turkey Season.
The camping trip and turkey hunt started on the morning of March 31, we decided not to set up camp in the dark. This was a good idea since we got the truck and the camper stuck in the mud twenty feet from the gate to the property. But with a little help from the tractor we got both of them pulled out and had our camp set up just after lunch time. The burgers were so good I wish all of you could have had one.
Hunting that afternoon turned up nothing but I was expecting that with all the noise we made coming in. Sarah did scare up a deer while we were walking to get the tractor, but no turkeys were to be seen.
We did the usual marsh mellow roast over the camp fire and sang a few songs, the coyotes decided to join in on the songs or maybe they were complaining about us.
Between the coyotes, owls and crickets we were serenaded through the night.
Sunday morning hunting was a little better, Sarah spotted a large tom but I was too far away to get him. That afternoon before we left I spotted several hens running through the pines. I know where to be next weekend for that tom.
The steaks we had for lunch were fabulous, but lunch was interrupted by the wind. We had to finish up lunch quickly and pack up the camper before the wind got too bad.
