03/28/2007

If I have forgotten anything please let me know at webmaster@partycentralonline.net thanks.

Partners Standard

Two standard decks are used, for each additional pair of players added one deck is added.  Thirteen (13) cards are dealt to each player.  Player's draw in turn starting from the dealers left, each player draws in turn one card.  The first player may at his/her discretion pick up the first card turned over without melding.  The player must discard to the pile unless going out.  A player may pick up the pile if he/she has a pair of the card played by the player before, or one matching card and a wild card.
Canastas consist of seven cards of the same value.  Wild cards, two's and jokers may be used to make a canasta but the number of wild cards in a canasta may not exceed the number of natural cards.

A team wins when 5000 points is reached.
Scoring
Red three - 100
Black three through seven - 5 points
Eight through King - 10 points
Ace - 20 points
Two's - 20 points
Joker's - 50 points
Canasta containing wild cards - 300 points
Canasta containing no wild cards - 500 points
Going out - 100 points
Melding - A team must meld a certain value of points at their first playing of cards the value depends on their score.
0 to 1495 - 50 points
1500 to 2995  -  90 points
3000 or 4995   -  120 points
5000 or Greater - 150 points

(Coffey rule)  When a team must meld 120 or more points if one of the partners has no wild cards and no pairs of any kind they may after conferring with their partner ask for a re-deal.  Yes Annette a pair of red or black threes counts as a pair.

Going out - A team may go out when they have at least one canasta and one player can play all of his/her cards including an optional discard.  The player going out must ask his/her partner if they want to go out and must abide by the decision of the partner.  If a partner asks to go out and cannot it is a 100 point deduction from their total score at the end of the hand.

Red Three's- When a player draws a red three it must be played face up immediately and replace the card with another card from the stack.  Each red three counts 100 points toward the final score.  After four (4) red threes are collected for a team the value doubles to 200 points for each red three.  Red threes do not count toward melding.  If a team has not melded any red threes played count against them at the end of the hand.  Red threes obtained from a frozen pile are not replaced from the stack

Frozen Deck - The deck is considered frozen when a red three or a wild card is tuned up after dealing.  An additional card will be turned over as the top card until a non wild card or red three is displayed.  A player may also freeze the deck by discarding a wild card during play.  When the deck is frozen in order for the deck to be picked up a player must have a natural pair of matching cards.
